CCC Week 19...

Here we are at week 19 of the Compendium Challenge, this
week's technique is called Extreme Masking, get all the
details over at Studio L3.

This was a good week as I had no issues, no mistakes to cover
up, no starting again from scratch, yay! I even went with
colours that I do not usually use, I am more a blue and
green person, but I love how this all turned out in the end.

I used a little Wild Honey, Barn Door and Rusty Hinge for
the distress inks.
The mask is an old one of Heidi Swapp's and the added
butterfly is one from Jenni Bowlin. Most of the stamps
are from Tim Holtz, I have no idea where I got the little
saying from that I used at the top, just found it floating
around in my drawer of small acrylic stamps.

I need to get more storage for my cling mount and acrylic
stamps, but some of them like the one above are really
small so they ended up in a small drawer. What does
everyone else do with their smaller stamps that don't
really belong to any set, just odds and ends?

Really cool piece you've created.

I keep all of those little odds and ends stamps in one of my vintage suitcases. I live in a condo and do not have an "art studio", so I use my collection of suitcases to house a lot of my supplies. Plus buying them gives me a good excuse that I can use them not only for decorative purposes *smiles* - I hang tags from the handles that say what's inside each one.

Can you believe that one of my larger suitcases is FULL of TH stuff? I'm sure you can *hee hee*

Oooh, this came out beautifully - wonderful masking technique!

I used to keep all my stamps - big sets and little individuals - together in a big basket, and of course, I could never find the little ones that fell to the bottom. So now I have a separate little basket - it's long and skinny - for my singles, so they don't get lost in the shuffle.

Oh I just love this piece you have created, Marlene. Love the colors and especially those butterflies!

Here's a link to a post I did a while back that shows how I store my acrylic stamps:

This made me smile love the colours and butterflies are my favourite things too.
I stamp my images onto card and laminate this then the clear stamps stick to this and hopefully stay in one place in a draw or folder.

I love this, Marlene! It's an absolutely perfect example of how to ROCK the extreme masking technique, and a truly beautiful work of art, too. Those colors are FABULOUS, and the design is... what's the word? Oh, yeah: Ingenious! I'm particularly loving your use of that sunray stamp. And the double butterflies look spectacular!

I have all my unmounted stamps stored on thick plastic-laminated sheets of cardstock. I coat the back of the stamps with Aileen's Tack it Over and Over which, once it dries, does indeed allow you to tack them over and over. They cling to the plastic even after I've used and washed them. I store the mounting sheets upright in small wooden crates so I can flip through them to find the stamps I need. It's not perfect, but it works pretty well.

This turned out so cool! Glad you used some different colors as they are gorgeous together. It's fun to try different ones that our norm, isn't it.

I love your colors! And I know about sticking with the same ones..I'm really trying hard to use different ones one each project too. And I love the mirroring of the butterflies...very nice indeed! For my smaller stamps, I have a couple of 4-drawer rolling carts that fit under my desk, with one drawer just for sayings, one for swirls, small background elements, etc.

You've mastered this technique - it's lovely and crisp and I love the colours too!

I keep my miscellaneous acrylic stamps in a folder with a shiny surface they cling too. Sometimes they do fall off, but at least they're altogher (more or less!)
