CCC Week 12...

Well, hard to believe but we are one third of the way through
these challenges.
If you have not made it over to Linda's blog yet, what are you
waiting for? Everyone is having so much fun trying out new
techniques and sharing what they did, please come on over
and try it yourself.

My problem is not the technique but deciding the whole
theme of my card before I even start. That takes me so
long to do and then the technique is the quickest part. This
week's technique I had not tried before and again using
Distress Embossing powder is a challenge for me.
I only have 2 colours and, in fact the only reason I have 2 is
that I had to get a different colour for the previous technique
we did. I am still unsure on when the stuff is heated enough
or not so if anyone is an expert with these powders send me
some tips please.
Anyway I do like how it turned out and will be waiting
eagerly for next Monday to come around so I can do the next challenge.

Your piece is gorgeous Marlene. I am in the same state of confusion as you, whether the powder is baked enough. So if you get any tips would you please let me know, would be very grateful. Annette x

Hi Marlene... I just love the neutrals of color on this.

As far as the powders go, once you start heating the crystals and you notice them melt together then they pretty much are done. Wait a bit for them to cool, otherwise you will burn yourself. And then rub away loose crystals for that funky aged look. The more you use it the more comfortable you will be with it... Check out some of Tim's YOUTUBES also... He's such a great teacher... :)

Hi Marlene! You've created another stunner this week-- I love your gorgeous tag! Great use of the paper, and I love how you inked the sky (and you used one of my favorite Tim stamps of all!). The tissue tape is a lovely touch, and you ROCKED the chipped enamel on the Ornate Plate. Great job! The faux stitching is the perfect finishing touch!

Toni's advice on the DP is right on! One other thing to remember is that, depending on the color, it will either get noticeably darker or lighter when it's "cooked," so look for a change in the tone as you heat the powder.

I'm with others here ... no idea how to determine when the Distress emboss is finished "cooking."

You must have it locked, though, as your piece is wonderful! I love your calm lavender background coupled with the onyx birds!

Love the birds and the sentiments you used. The technique turned out great on the ornamental frame.

Very nice. I love your ornate plate. I was finding it easier to tell if the distress was cooked on metal than paper. You can see it go kinda shiny in the right light. I am with you on deciding the theme being the hardest part.

I think this came out wonderful. The light color distress embossing powders seem to really look nice when chipped. Great Job--

PS. I live just outside Trowbridge, looking out over Salisbury Plain, although it's definitely autumnal this morning, and the trees are just peeping through the mist, so I can't actually see very far.

I really like the way you used the distress powder...I think you have the technique down. Your card design is wonderful too!
